Through advocacy and communications, it is possible to shift mindsets and policies across sectors and society toward equity and systems approaches. Collective advocacy can advance equitable systems change by creating a conducive environment for action and a supportive context that embraces equity and shared power. With its diverse, cross-sector membership, the Forum is well-positioned to advocate collectively to strengthen the field. It will help stakeholders to organize around key issues and accelerate change through collective advocacy and communications campaigns.

The first advocacy initiative, Transforming Philanthropy, focuses on how philanthropy as a system can transform to fully address racial inequity and embrace systems change approaches, with the potential for catalyzing similar efforts in government and the private sector.  The intent is to support and build on existing efforts that already focus on transforming philanthropy, and to provide an opportunity to collaborate more intentionally to capture synergies and to address the system of philanthropy as a whole.
